The essence of the treatment
Chi Nei Tsang in Brussels · Taoist Abdominal Massage
Chi Nei Tsang — literally "working the internal energy of the organs" — is an abdominal massage from the Chinese Taoist tradition, practised for centuries in monasteries. It sees the belly as our "second brain": the seat of our held emotions, the centre of our vitality, home to much of the immune system — and where 90% of the body's serotonin is made.
Our practitioner combines deep breathing, rocking, gentle pressure and skin-rolling to release the tension stored in the abdomen. It's both a physical treatment (digestion, transit, pain) and an energetic one (emotional release, inner balance). A deep, surprisingly subtle experience that leaves a lightness like nothing else.

Frequently asked questions
Chi Nei Tsang literally means "working the internal energy of the organs". It's an abdominal massage from the Chinese Taoist tradition, practised for centuries in monasteries to help monks detoxify, strengthen and refine the body. The technique combines breathing, precise pressure and gentle mobilisation of the abdomen to stimulate the internal organs and release the tension stored in the belly.
Because science now confirms it. Our gut holds more than 200 million neurons (almost as many as the spinal cord) and produces 90% of our serotonin — the wellbeing hormone. The belly is in constant dialogue with the brain through the vagus nerve, and stores our held emotions. That's why we talk about a "knot in the stomach" or "not being able to stomach" something. Chi Nei Tsang works directly on this dimension.
The Belly treatment is especially suited to people with digestive troubles (bloating, constipation, sluggish transit, irritable bowel syndrome), with stress and anxiety that settle in the belly, with period pain, or going through an emotionally difficult time. It's also a wonderful treatment for those who want to work on their inner life in a non-verbal way.
It's an area of the body less often touched, which can surprise you the first time. But the session takes place in an extremely professional, caring setting. You stay lying on your back, covered by a sheet that only uncovers the abdomen being worked. Our practitioner explains every movement, checks your comfort throughout, and adapts to your needs. Most clients are surprised how soothing and natural it feels.
The contraindications for Chi Nei Tsang are strict: pregnancy (any trimester), recent abdominal surgery (less than 3 months), inflammatory bowel disease in a flare (Crohn's, ulcerative colitis), serious abdominal conditions (cancer, severe hernia), fever or a current infection. For a chronic digestive condition, check with your doctor before booking. We always adapt the work.
To work on a specific digestive or emotional issue, we recommend a course: one session a week for 3–4 weeks, then a monthly rhythm to maintain. For general balancing, one session every 6 weeks is enough. It's a treatment to savour: don't book it if you're rushed or tense — Chi Nei Tsang asks for a certain inner availability to give its best.
